Fluffels!

Furies Magazine: Which came first, the accessories or the fluffels?

Mariska Vos-Bolman: The Fluffels plush came first. After 6/7 months I looked into other options to use my designs. And laser cut jewelry was a great way to expand my collection.

FM: Where did you get the idea for these cute little creatures?

MV: After I got my first sewing machine I made a pillow and thought that it would be fun to make some toys with it. So I started sketching some fun creatures. Sitting in the train or at home. Wherever I found the inspiration.

FM: What are your favorite materials to work with?

MV: Fleece is a great fabric to work with, it is cheap and easy to use and very forgiving if your sewing skills aren’t so good yet 🙂 Felt is great for plushies to, to create eyes, mouth and other details.

FM: What are your future plans for Fluffels?

MV: Currently I’m focusing more on my DIY Fluffies line, that is my other etsy store: www.etsy.com/shop/DIYFluffies, after that I will probably will start creating new designs for the fluffels collection. I would love to have some more jewelry designs.
I just need more time 🙂

You can follow Fluffels on facebook, shop Fluffels on Etsy or make your own Fluffels.

Kteis

silkskullscarfIt was love at first site. When I saw this scarf I wanted to get rid of every piece of clothing I owned just so that I could build an entirely new wardrobe around it.

Furies Magazine: Where does your inspiration come from?

Kteis: Inspiration comes to me from variety of sources, mostly from everyday life, struggle and dreams, but also from myths and fairy tales. I love ancient cultures and their pantheons, especially goddesses and female characters – their power and mystique.

FM: When did you start making scarves?

Kteis: I started painting on silk almost 3 years ago. I finally found a way to combine two of my loves, fashion design and painting.

skullscarfblackFM: What’s the creative process like for you?

Kteis: Idea starts with some image, but it alters significantly when it comes to painting, because it is impossible to predict precisely how it will look like when it comes out. That is something magical in process of silk painting and that is why each piece is unique, no matter how hard I try to make them as similar as possible.

We’re only featuring her scarves in this article, but you really should check out her website. She also makes shawls, clothing and ties. And, obviously, you should follow the facebook page for updates and new items.
